Teen & Adult Taekwondo Classes in Calgary
Ages 15 and up — high-schoolers, shift workers, parents, total beginners and returning black belts. A workout with a point, taught by Grand Master Joo-han Cha, 8th Dan and 4-time Korean National Champion.
Who it's for
Never too late to start
Half of our adult class started as complete beginners over the age of 30. You don't need to be flexible, fit, or fearless — you need to show up twice a week. The curriculum meets you where you are and the belt system gives you somewhere to go.
Teens (15+) train in the same class, which keeps the energy honest: teenagers push the adults' cardio, adults model the discipline. Everyone bows to everyone.
Family Class: parents and kids on the same mat, learning the same curriculum. One of the few activities in Calgary you can genuinely do together.

Benefits
Why adults stick with taekwondo
Full-body fitness
Kicking drills are cardio, core and flexibility in one. Expect to sweat more than at the gym and notice it less.
Practical self-defence
Distance management, striking fundamentals and the confidence that comes from contact training in a controlled setting.
A reset for your head
You cannot think about your inbox while holding a kicking paddle. Forty-five minutes of complete presence, twice a week.

FAQ
Adult beginner questions
I'm not flexible at all. Is that a problem?
No — it's the reason to come. Flexibility is trained, not required. Every class includes structured stretching, and kicks are taught at whatever height your hips allow today.
Will I have to spar?
Not until you want to, and never without full gear. Many adult students train for years focusing on fitness, forms and pad work. Sparring is an option, not a hazing ritual.
I did martial arts years ago. Can my old rank transfer?
Bring your certificate or just tell Grand Master Cha what you remember. He'll assess where you fit — returning students usually keep equivalent rank after a refresher period.
What's the age range in the adult class?
Fifteen to sixty-plus. The class scales: teenagers chase speed, older adults chase mobility, and everyone works the same curriculum at their own intensity.
Your first class is free. Your excuses are not.
Come as you are — gym clothes and a water bottle. We'll handle the rest.
