Executive Black Belt β€” Private Taekwondo in Calgary

One-on-one taekwondo with Grand Master Joo-han Cha, 8th Dan, scheduled around your workday: before work, over lunch or during the day. Two or more hours a week, one clear goal β€” your black belt, potentially within a year.

Who it's for

For leaders who want a defined goal, not another gym membership

The Executive Black Belt program is built for Calgary executives and professionals who want three things from their training: discipline, a defined goal with a finish line, and fitness refined through a specialised martial art.

Every session is private β€” just you and Grand Master Cha on the mats. No group class to keep pace with, no evening schedule to fight. Sessions are booked during the day, before work or over your lunch break, at a minimum of two hours a week.

With that commitment, earning a black belt in about a year is a realistic target. Rank is earned here, never bought: you work through the same ten colour-belt ranks to black belt as every Red Phoenix student, with far more focused hours in each one.

What you get

Private training, built around your calendar

Discipline

A fixed weekly commitment of two hours or more, held to the same standard as a board meeting. The habit carries into everything else.

A defined goal

Black belt is the target, with a clear set of requirements at every rank on the way. You always know what's next and how close you are.

Refined fitness

Flexibility, balance, power and conditioning, coached one-on-one by an 8th Dan Grand Master and 4-time Korean National Champion.

Health and wellness spending accounts: many employers give staff a health spending account (HSA) or a lifestyle / wellness spending account, and some plans cover fitness or martial arts training. Coverage depends on your plan, so check with your plan administrator before you start. Ask us for a receipt to submit with your claim.

FAQ

Executive Black Belt questions

When are sessions held?

During the day, before work or over your lunch break, by appointment with Grand Master Cha at our NE Calgary dojang (104, 620 - 46 Avenue NE).

How much time do I need to commit?

Two hours a week or more. That level of one-on-one training is what makes a black belt in about a year a realistic goal.

Can I really earn a black belt in a year?

Potentially, yes β€” with two or more hours of private training a week and consistent attendance. Group-class students who train twice a week usually take about three years. Rank is still earned, never bought: you progress through the same ten colour-belt ranks to black belt.

Can I use my health spending account?

It depends on your plan. Some health, lifestyle or wellness spending accounts cover fitness or martial arts training. Check with your plan administrator, and ask us for a receipt to submit with your claim.

Do I need martial arts experience or a certain fitness level?

No. Because every session is one-on-one, training starts from wherever you are today.

What does the program cost?

Rates depend on how many hours a week you train. Book a consultation, call (403) 277-7937 or email info@redpx.com for current rates.
